City Sightseeing, the brand that operates the iconic open
top red double-decker buses in over 100 cities across the globe, has begun
running tours in Johannesburg. City Sightseeing Johannesburg follows a route
through the Joburg CBD that offers locals and tourist alike the chance to
explore this city, visiting the many attractions on offer and sampling the
sights, sounds, colours, cultures and heritage that are all synonymous with
Jozi. As with all City Sightseeing tours, Joburg operates on the Hop-On, Hop-Off
basis, which allows sight seers the chance to get off the bus at any of the
designated stops along the route and then get back on to a later bus at their
leisure. Buses run on a rotational basis, stopping at all of the designated
points along the route every 40 minutes. Tickets can be purchased from the City
Sightseeing Tour Office inside the Gold Reef City Hotel; online at the City
Sightseeing website or on the bus using a credit card. Stops along the route
include Gandhi Square, the Roof of Africa at the Carlton Centre, the James Hall
Transport Museum, the Apartheid Museum and Gold Reef City, the Mining District,
the World of Beer, the Carlton Centre, Santarama Miniland, Newtown Precinct, the
Origins Centre, Wits Campus, Braamfontein and Constitution Hill. Tours will
start from 09h00 until late seven days a week. Tickets for the bus tours will
cost R150, discounted to R120 if purchased online.
